Ultrahurtigt optisk kommunikation

Caption: For nylig har DTU brudt verdensrekorden i at generere ultra-høje serielle bitrater fra kun en enkelt laser. Forskergruppen High-Speed Optical Communications på DTU Fotonik med Leif Katsuo Oxenløwe i spidsen opnår de høje hastigheder ved hjælp af fotoner, som sendes gennem et lyslederkabel, også kaldet en optisk fiber. Opdagelsen ventes at få stor betydning for hastigheden på internettet, og udviklingen vil gå i retning af, at man kan spare el og begrænse udledning af CO2. Forelæsningen beskriver teknikken bag verdenrekorden, og der bliver også en gennemgang af behovet for at øge den serielle bitrate. Forelæsningen vil også fortælle om nogle interessante ultra-hurtige komponenter, der kan håndtere fremtidens ultra-hurtige kommunikation.
